Terms of use

These terms cover the AuditLint browser extensions and this website. Installing or using an extension means you accept them.

AuditLint is the trading name of Ethan Braddy, a sole proprietor based in Texas, United States. Purchases are processed by our online reseller Paddle.com, which is the merchant of record for all our orders: Paddle issues the invoice, collects any VAT or sales tax due, provides customer service for the transaction, and handles refunds.

What automated testing can and cannot tell you

These tools are an automated aid. They are not a certification of compliance, and no result they produce establishes conformance with any standard or law.

Automated testing cannot detect every accessibility failure. A clean result means the checks the tool performs found nothing on the page in the state it was scanned — not that the page is accessible, and not that it conforms to WCAG 2.2, EN 301 549, the European Accessibility Act, the Americans with Disabilities Act, Section 508, or any other requirement.

In particular:

• Colour contrast is one success criterion among many. Passing it says nothing about the rest.
• Content behind interaction — menus, modals, hover and focus states, and anything loaded later — is not exercised unless it is on screen when you scan.
• Text over images or gradients, and content affected by CSS filters or blend modes, is reported as needing manual review because it cannot be measured reliably. Those items are not failures and are not counted as passes either.
• Cross-origin frames cannot be read by any browser extension, and their contents are outside the scan.

A complete accessibility audit requires review by a person. Use these tools as one input to that work, not as a substitute for it.

Your licence

Buying a licence gives you, the person who bought it, a non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use that extension on any browser you use yourself, at work or at home. One licence is for one person: a team needs one per member, or one bundle per member. Please do not share, publish or resell the key. The licence has no expiry and requires no subscription.

You may not decompile, redistribute, or create derivative works from the extensions. Updates are included: the stores deliver them automatically, and your key keeps working with them. Because the key is checked on your own machine and never against a server, the extension keeps working as installed even if we stop publishing it.

Refunds

Thirty days, no questions asked. Ask through your Paddle receipt or email hello@auditlint.com within 30 days of purchase and you will get a full refund; a refund ends the licence. The full refund policy has the details. If you are a consumer in the EU or UK you also have a statutory 14-day right of withdrawal for digital content; our 30-day policy is longer, and these terms do not limit your statutory rights in any way.

Liability

The extensions are provided as they are, without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including any warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement.

To the maximum extent the law allows, AuditLint (Ethan Braddy) is not liable for any indirect or consequential loss, or for lost profits, revenue, data or goodwill, arising from use of the extensions — including any claim, penalty or proceeding relating to the accessibility of a website you tested with them. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the amount you paid for the licence.

Nothing here excludes liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be excluded. If you are a consumer, your statutory rights are unaffected.

Availability and changes

The extensions are distributed through the Chrome Web Store and Microsoft Edge Add-ons, and their availability depends on those stores. Features may change; a change that removed something you paid for would entitle you to a refund under the section above.

Trademarks and affiliation

WCAG and W3C are trademarks of the World Wide Web Consortium. Chrome and the Chrome Web Store are trademarks of Google LLC; Microsoft Edge is a trademark of Microsoft Corporation. They are used here only to describe what the extensions check and where they run. AuditLint is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or certified by any of them, or by any accessibility standards body or regulator.

Keys that have been shared

Keys are verified offline and cannot be switched off remotely. If a key is posted publicly or resold, we may decline to support it or to reissue it, and a future version may refuse keys known to have been shared. A key bought honestly is never affected by this.

If part of these terms cannot be enforced

If any part of these terms is found unenforceable, the rest still applies. These terms, the privacy policy and the refund policy are the whole agreement between us about the extensions; the store you install from has its own terms as well. We may change these terms, and a change is effective for purchases made after its date; the date at the top tells you which version you are reading.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas, United States, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. The state and federal courts located in Texas have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute, and you agree to that venue.

If you are a consumer resident in the European Union or the United Kingdom, this does not deprive you of the protection of the mandatory consumer-protection rules of the country where you live, and you may bring proceedings in your own courts.
