Privacy policy

The extensions collect no personal data. They analyse pages entirely inside your browser. There is no account to create, no analytics of any kind, and nothing they read ever leaves your device. The one place we hold any record at all is the licence-key service described below, which stores no name and no email address.

What the extensions do not do

• They do not transmit the pages you scan, their URLs, or the results.
• They do not contain analytics, telemetry, crash reporting, or advertising.
• They make no network requests at all while scanning or producing a report. The source is checked automatically on every change to confirm it contains no code capable of making one.
• They do not read your browsing history, bookmarks, or activity in other tabs.
• The only pages they ever open are this website, when you click Unlock, and the extension's own store listing, when you click Leave a review. Both happen only on your click, as an ordinary browser tab.

What is stored, and where

The following are held in your browser's local extension storage. They never leave your device, and they are removed when you uninstall the extension.

• A daily scan counter — a date and a number, so the free tier's five-scans-a-day limit works.
• Your licence key, if you buy the paid version. It is checked offline against a key built into the extension; validating it involves no network request.
• Your last-used colours in the colour checker, and a pair picked from a page, so the checker opens where you left it.
• The pages of your current report — the results of the pages you have scanned since you last started a new report, so a multi-page report can be exported. They stay until you start a new report.
• A count of scans you have made, so the extension can ask once, after your third scan, whether you would leave a review, and never ask again.
• A generated report, for the moment between choosing Export and the report tab opening; the tab removes it as it loads.

Permissions, and why each exists

• activeTab — lets the scanner read the page in the tab you are looking at, and only from the moment you click the extension's icon. It grants no access to any other tab, and expires. This is why the extension has no “read your data on all websites” warning.
• storage — for the items listed above, and nothing else.
• scripting — to place the scanner into the tab when you click. Carries no access of its own.
• sidePanel — lets the panel dock beside the page and stay open while you work through the findings. It grants no access to any page or any data.

The extensions request no host permissions whatsoever.

Buying the paid version

Purchases are made on the checkout of Paddle.com, our reseller and the merchant of record. Your payment details go to Paddle and never to us. Paddle shares the order with us, including the email address you paid with, so that we can answer support requests, process refunds and find your key again if you lose it. Paddle's own privacy policy governs what it collects at checkout.

Your licence key is issued by a small service we run at keys.auditlint.com, hosted on Cloudflare. When Paddle confirms a payment, that service signs a key for the order and keeps the order's transaction id, the product, the key, and the dates it was issued and, if it ever is, refunded, so that the same key can be shown to you again. It stores no name, no email address and no payment details. If you use the lost-key page, the email you enter is sent to Paddle to look up your orders and is not kept. The service's logs record only its own status messages, never the address of the page you were on.

This website

auditlint.com is a static site with no cookies, no analytics and no scripts. It is served by GitHub Pages, whose servers keep ordinary access logs (including IP addresses) under GitHub's privacy statement; the domain's DNS is served by Cloudflare. We see none of those logs.

Contacting us

If you email hello@auditlint.com we keep that correspondence in order to reply to you, and for as long as needed to support the product. Nothing else.

You can ask what we hold about you, or ask us to delete it, at the same address. In practice this is limited to your email correspondence and, if you have bought a licence, the order in Paddle and the key record described above.

Children

These are professional developer tools. They are not directed at children, and they collect nothing from anyone.

Changes

If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it. Any change that affected what the extensions collect would be described here explicitly — but collecting nothing is a design decision the product is built around, not a setting.
